Modification of the water regime near the village of Cheznovice

Among other things, the Healthy Landscape project addresses the issue of water retention in forests. The construction of several water pools, check dams and water-filled ditches has positively influenced the water regime near Cheznovice. Forest complexes are often the spring areas of hydrological catchment basins, so the restoration of the water regime (runoff and retention conditions) in these areas is extremely important. In the event of higher rainfall in the upper parts of the catchment, the drained forest areas fail to retain water sufficiently, which results in increased flows and subsequent flash floods in the lower parts of the catchment.
