Changing climate, limited capacity of the landscape to retain water, loss of biodiversity and of natural river landscapes, erosion and degradation of agricultural land. These are the current problems for us that need to be addressed. Since 2022, the Pilsen Region has been intensively working on the Healthy Landscape project that is unique in the Czech Republic. Its goal is to prepare the landscape for the future and the oncoming climate change.
Problems in the landscape will not disappear overnight, but we can improve our natural environment gradually with small measures. In the Examples of Good Practice, you can get inspired by the measures already implemented in the region. Some of them were co-financed by private companies through "Partner", others were implemented e.g. by municipalities.
In the process of landscape restoration, the springboard for us are landscape planning studies. We commission them gradually for small areas (so-called fourth-order catchments). The studies tell us where the landscape has the biggest problem and we follow them up by developing and building specific measures. So we implement them exactly where they are needed and can help the landscape the most!
