Restoration of a weir on the Sklářský stream in the Český les Protected Landscape Area

Construction of a log weir as part of the revitalization of a section of the Sklářský stream near the Pavlova Huť nature reserve. As part of the planned modifications to the stream channel in 1994, ten log weirs were built to make it shallower and reduce the slope of the straightened channel. Over time, the weirs decomposed and lost their functionality. The main and parallel channels were deepening, which had an adverse effect on the surrounding area and caused the locality to dry up. For this reason, in 2023, the stream channel was revitalised by building new log weirs. The low-head dams raised the stream’s water level and spread the backwater so that it now provides moisture to the adjacent areas of the nature reserve.
